The position of RENX newsletter editor is no exception. It entails the sourcing, prioritizing and copy editing of our aggregated news on a daily basis, on deadline without fail. And, when that is over, editing our own content for Property Biz Canada.
At RENX, we are very fortunate to have retained Barry Horeczy to be our newsletter editor. He has now been with RENX for four months and it looks like he is settling in to stay awhile. We certainly hope so.
Barry’s depth of copy editing and writing experience as well as dedication to his work are raising the level of journalistic professionalism at RENX to match the industry standard.
From 2003 to 2012, Barry was employed by Postmedia and its predecessor Canwest Global as a reporter and editor. He was previously with the Edmonton Journal and the Winnipeg Sun and started out at the Brandon Sun as a sports reporter.
While primarily a sports editor and writer, Barry has contributed to almost every news channel including the business section of the Edmonton Journal.
In 2003, Postmedia dragged Barry from his hometown of Winnipeg to work in its Ottawa newsroom. Following the demise of that service in 2012, he continued working as a freelancer based in Ottawa until starting with RENX this spring.
Barry’s passion for history that includes older buildings has brought a refreshing new set of priorities for the RENX newsletters. At a time when there is a shift toward renovation from new construction, this contribution is timely and valuable to our readers.
At RENX we fully appreciate Barry’s extraordinary ability to spot a spelling mistake, grammatical faux pas, misplaced comma and myriad other copy errors earning his well-deserved nickname of ‘hawkeye’.
RENX welcomes Barry to our ranks and I look forward to working with him in the days (hopefully years) ahead.
