
Richard Hylands, the founder and co-chair of Kevric Real Estate Corp., has been appointed to the board of directors of QuadReal.
Kevric is a real estate company with offices in both Montreal and Toronto, managing more than three million square feet. Hylands specializes in the acquisition, development and management of large-scale real estate projects and has experience working in several Canadian markets.
"Richard's strong Canadian real estate experience and understanding of both the investments and operations sides of the business is of great value to the board,” board chair Tom Garbutt said in the announcement. “He understands the importance of taking a long-term view to respond to change and challenges in the market . . .”
Kevric has completed several flagship projects including 150 Bloor, 99 Atlantic and Consilium Place in Toronto as well as Place Bonaventure and the Air Canada Tower in Montreal.
Hylands is a graduate of McGill University and York University, with a bachelor of business administration and an MBA.
Tangen becomes president at Westbank
Darren Tangen has shifted back to Canada as the president of Vancouver-based Westbank.
Educated at Montreal’s McGill University (bachelor of real estate and management administration) and the Wharton School of Business (MBA), Tangen has spent much of his career working his way up the ranks as a senior executive in Los Angeles. Most recently, he was managing director, head of real estate business development at Oaktree Capital Management LP.
Prior to that, he founded Black Tusk Partners and was involved with the firm for over 23 years.
Concurrently, he was CFO and then president at Colony Capital for 18 years.
Lau takes CFO post at Dream Impact Trust
Dream Impact Trust has appointed Derrick Lau as chief financial officer.
Lau will move from his current role as CFO of Dream Residential REIT, where he spearheaded the overall financial management of DRR since its initial public offering in 2022.
Lau has over 15 years of experience in the real estate industry and has been with Dream, the trust’s asset manager, for the past 10 years in increasingly senior finance and strategy roles.
With Lau’s appointment, current CFO Meaghan Peloso will continue to provide strategic support through her ongoing role as CFO of Dream.
Purdy gets expanded role at Colliers
Rob Purdy has accepted an expanded role at Colliers as national institutional practice group chair, where he will leverage his experience managing portfolios for IFRS valuation, refinancing, corporate reorganization, and acquisition/disposition for institutional clients.
As chair of Colliers international realty advisors' institutional property group, Purdy has spearheaded the development of national best practices for reporting and underwriting. He has also helped lead the advancement of Colliers’ technology suite for institutional asset appraisal.
Ullrich promoted at Tribe
Tribe Property Technologies Inc. has promoted Scott Ullrich as its chief financial officer.
Reporting directly to Tribe CEO Joseph Nakhla, Ullrich succeeds Angelo Bartolini, who is transitioning to a strategic advisor role after guiding Tribe through a critical transition period.
"Angelo joined the company at a pivotal time, and his leadership during this critical phase was invaluable.," Nakhla said in the announcement. "His extensive expertise in financial strategy, operations, and acquisitions helped guide Tribe through a challenging transition, enabling us to achieve our first EBITDA-positive results and execute key acquisitions that have positioned us for sustained growth."
Ullrich, who has been with Tribe since the acquisition of Gateway Property Management in 2021, brings over four decades of leadership experience. Ullrich most recently served as executive vice-president at Tribe, overseeing national rental and condo operations and helping to build Tribe's strong foundation in property management.
Prior to joining Tribe, he was Gateway’s CEO.
Resident names Marok COO
Kiran Marok has been promoted at Toronto developer and real estate firm Resident. Formerly the EVP of operations, Marok is now chief operating officer.
Marok joined Resident in 2021. In her new role, she’ll oversee the operational strategy and execution of the company’s real estate development projects. She brings over 15 years of senior experience in managing the delivery of mixed-use development projects.
She holds a master of planning (MPI) from Toronto Metropolitan University.
New senior execs at JLL
JLL’s project and development services division has named two new senior executives in Canada, Jillian Jackson and Nick Radford.
Jackson joins as senior vice-president, investor services lead, overseeing the execution of comprehensive capital expenditure programs for landlord clients across Canada, managing all project stages. Her 18 years of experience includes managing portfolios for major institutional investors, with expertise in value-add repositioning, ground-up development and large-scale renovation projects.
Radford goes to JLL as managing director, national and central Canada lead and will oversee PDS delivery, strategic growth and business development throughout Canada’s key commercial markets. His 25 years of global experience includes managing large-scale projects and programs across many sectors including commercial office, industrial, institutional and hotel/hospitality.
Both will be based at JLL’s Canada headquarters in downtown Toronto.
Three new leaders join BGO Properties
BGO Properties has made three additions to its senior leadership team, naming Marlene Farias, Stephen Smith and Jeff Wilson to new roles.
Farias becomes national vice-president, sustainability and technical services. She brings over 20 years of senior operations, property management and sustainability expertise from leadership roles at Triovest and JLL. Farias will oversee BGO Properties’ operational excellence, sustainability and technical services groups nationwide.
Smith has been hired as principal, commercial property management and leasing – BC Region. With over 25 years of real estate leadership experience spanning Oxford Properties, Manulife and Wesgroup Properties, he will focus on strengthening BGO Properties’ commercial property management and leasing presence.
Wilson is now vice-president, property management, Greater Toronto Area. He has over 20 years of property management and operations experience, most recently leading retail operations at Westdell Development Corp.
Chan a vice-president at Heartwood
Heartwood Trust has hired Jane Chan as vice-president, capital and corporate development. Chan brings over 15 years of experience in finance, investor relations and global strategic communications to her new role.
Most recently, she held senior roles at Heartwood Trust, TAS and DRI Capital. Prior, she was with Scotiabank where she managed strategic communications related to financial results, performance and transaction activity. She also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers and Deloitte.
She holds a bachelor of science and business degree from the University of Waterloo, is a CFA and a member of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Business Valuators (CICBV).
Peretz moves up to EMD at JLL
Jonathan Peretz is moving up to executive managing director, national leasing for Canada at JLL.
Peretz’s responsibilities will include driving JLL's leasing strategy and performance across Canada, overseeing strategic business development, team mentorship, and the integration of technology solutions that enhance leasing processes and decision-making capabilities.

Goodchild Equiton's choice as VP capital formation
Braiden Goodchild has been named VP of capital formation and strategic transactions at Equiton, leading its institutional investment pillar with a focus on pensions, insurance and lifecos, family offices and other large investors.
Goodchild moves to Equiton after spending the past dozen years in domestic and overseas roles with PwC Canada. Most recently, he was managing director - national real estate M&A leader based in Toronto. He has also spent time with BMO Capital Markets, Altus Group and the Town of Whitby.
