New vice-chairs for Forum; expanded role for BGO exec

Satish Rai and John Sullivan have been appointed as vice-chairs at Forum Asset Management

Rai’s previous experience includes 10 years in increasingly senior roles with the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS), and at TD Asset Management, where he served more than 28 years.

Sullivan, former chief executive officer at Cadillac Fairview for over 12 years before his retirement in 2023, served a total of 25 years with the company in a variety of senior management positions. He also previously served as senior vice-president with Brookfield for four years. 

Both will be joining the leadership team supporting business development and guiding Forum's investment committee.

In addition to his role with Forum, Rai serves on the boards of Brookfield, Richcraft Homes, Fairfax India and Second Harvest. He received his bachelor of mathematics at the University of Waterloo and is also a CFA.

Sullivan has more than 30 years of experience in both acquisitions and dispositions, as well as asset management and development. Previously, he worked at Marathon Realty and Brookfield Properties. Sullivan has a bachelor of civil engineering degree from Concordia University and a master of business administration with McGill University. 

He also serves on the boards of Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children, Colliers International and MAF Properties in Dubai.

Enhanced responsibilities for BGO’s Michniewicz

Stephen Michniewicz, who is the managing director, national commercial property management at BGO, will take on expanded duties at the real estate investment management advisory firm.

His new role will include property management and operations for BGO Properties’ retail, office and industrial teams across Canada. His work will focus on customer service and NOI (net operating income) for existing clients and third-party property management business.

Before working at BGO, Michniewicz spent time at both BentallGreenOak and First Capital Realty.

Chadha new managing director at Avison Young

Avison Young has tapped Sanjiv Chadha as its new managing director for Toronto west and southwestern Ontario regions for its occupier services arm. 

Chadha will focus on the firm’s strategic business plan on the occupier services’ platform, as well as business development and market share.

Chadha first joined Avison Young in 2022 as principal, occupier services, responsible for industrial and office clients, having advised large corporations on real estate strategies in more than 20 countries for more than 20 years.

With Avison Young, Chadha will focus on the team’s delivery of real estate solutions. 

He previously worked at Colliers International for over 20 years, as well as a stint at the Canadian Mortgage and Housing Corporation.

New CTO, western VP at Sutton 

Sutton Group recently appointed Antoni Wisniowski as its chief technology officer. 

Wisniowski co-founded real estate industry operating system platform provider RIOS and he will lead the firm’s digital transformation efforts. As CTO, Wisniowski will also help develop advanced platforms designed to improve data transparency and accessibility for Sutton.

Previously, he served as president, business development and chief administrative officer at the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) — as well as with Teranet — where he led the team creating GeoWarehouse, a real estate data access and insights platform.

Also at Sutton, the company has promoted Beatrice Cosentini, who will become a regional vice-president for Western Canada. 

Cosentini has experience in digital transformation and real estate from her career in media (as executive and consultant with both Corus and Trader Corporation respectively), and as a realtor and managing broker.

She previously spent more than 11 years with Sutton as an agent in Vancouver and Coquitlam, B.C. She joined Sutton Group-West Coast Realty in 2014.

Real estate veteran moves to Colliers

Jay Littlejohn has joined Colliers Canada as senior vice-president, sales associate in Toronto. 

Littlejohn brings more than 26 years of brokerage experience and more than three decades in the industry into the role, having previously worked with both Cushman & Wakefield and Brookfield. 

He specializes in office leasing and has expertise in office investment transactions. Littlejohn’s career includes being involved in more than 1,500 transactions representing more than seven million square feet of leasing space.

Frontenac adds to board of directors

Kevin Cruickshank has joined the board of directors at Frontenac Mortgage Investment Corp., (FMIC) to assist in implementing the company’s wind-up plan. 

Cruickshank was also appointed to the company’s audit and governance committees. 

He brings more than 20 years of management and leadership experience, previously serving as executive vice-president and chief financial officer of W.A. Robinson Asset Management, which manages FMIC, and he served as chief financial officer for FMIC from 2005 to 2023. 

Cruickshank holds chartered professional accountant and chartered accountant accreditations from CPA Ontario.
