Proment Corp. has kicked off the seventh-and-final development phase of its multi-year Quartier Pointe Nord project on Montreal’s Nuns’ Island with construction of the $150 million Evolo Nex tower.

Centurion acquires new 240-unit Laval apartment building

Centurion Apartment REIT has acquired its first property in the Laval submarket in Greater Montreal, the new 12-storey Evolution building at 1355 Le Corbusier Blvd.

3,000-unit Halifax development receives green light

The redevelopment of Halifax's Shannon Park has been approved by Harbour East Marine Drive community council. The site's owner, Canada Lands, promises 20 per cent of the 3,000 new residential units will be affordable. The plan includes a transit hub.

Lowe's Canada to now operate as Rona Inc.

RONA Inc. Friday announced it has re-established itself as an independent company following its acquisition by Sycamore Partners from Lowe's Companies. RONA, which was founded in 1939, will retain its head office in Boucherville, on the South Shore of Montréal.

16 Canadian REITs raised dividends in 2022

A total of 16 Canadian REITs announced dividend increases in 2022, seven from the residential sector and five from retail. The industrial segment had two dividend hike annoucements, while the office and diversified sectors each had one 

Olymel shuttering two Quebec pork-processing plants

Olymel is closing its pork-processing plants in Blainville and Laval, Que., which will result in the loss of 170 jobs.  The closures are part of a reorganization of the company that began in 2021.   

Fahr Brewery plans 25,000-square-foot Calgary plant

Jochen Fahr began brewing beer out of his small, two-bedroom apartment a little over a decade ago. This summer, Fahr plans to break ground on a 25,000-square-foot facility on five acres in Calgary's recently amalgamated Diamond Valley.

William Wright Commercial Real Estate Services has opened an ofice in the Parksville Memorial Centre. William Wright has two offices in Vancouver and others in Victoria, Kelowna, New Westminster and Langley. A Kamloops office is set to open this year.

Urban Fare to open new location near UBC
