Calgary industrial on 20-year growth spree: Colliers

While Calgary’s office market continues to languish, industrial real estate has almost doubled in size over the past 20 years. Data presented at the Calgary Real Estate Forum by Colliers International indicates since 2000 the region has seen 1,185 new buildings constructed.

A Los Angeles street artist is suing Katasa Group Inc. and Constitution Building for an Ottawa real estate development which allegedly misappropriating his art in an advertising campaign. The residence, Théo Ottawa, opened this fall near the University of Ottawa.

The HITT Zone recently opened up in 12,000 square feet of athletic training facilities in a former Sears warehouse in northeast Regina. Dale Griesser, Regina-based president and broker of Avison Young, said the developers spent $350,000 retrofitting the former warehouse space.

Stéphane Etroy is stepping down as Caisse executive vice-president and head of international private equity. His departure will allow Canada’s second-largest public pension manager to consolidate all of its private equity activities in Quebec and abroad under one roof.

Ivanhoé Cambridge has backed a $219 million Cdn fundraise by Spanish REIT Árima Real Estate. The companies said Ivanhoé Cambridge has invested $88 million for a 20.3 per cent stake in Árima to become the main shareholder in the listed company.

Almost 73 per cent of detached homes sold in Vancouver in the first nine months of 2019 went for below assessed value, while Kitimat and the Kootenays are booming, according to provincewide real estate figures released this week by Landcor Data Corporation.

Canadian home prices fell in October for the first time in six months but an underlying upswing was maintained, data showed on Tuesday. The Teranet-National Bank Composite House Price Index fell 0.1 per cent last month from September.
