Pellerin joins Slate board, new execs at Greystar, Crombie, Altus

Charles Pellerin has been appointed to the board of trustees at Slate Office REIT (SOT-UN-T). 

Pellerin will also join the board’s audit committee. His extensive board experience includes serving as executive chairman of TerraVest since 2014, when TerraVest acquired one of his manufacturing companies.

He also serves on the boards of Clarke Inc. and Calfrac Well Services. 

Pellerin is the president and principal partner at Pellerin Potvin Gagnon S.E.N.C.R.L., one of Quebec’s largest independent accounting firms. He specializes in business and audit services such as management, financings and acquisitions for various manufacturing companies and distributors.  

He owns multiple privately held manufacturing businesses as well as several commercial, industrial and residential properties throughout Quebec. 

An accomplished athlete who formerly played and coached football, Pellerin is the owner and president of the Victoriaville Tigers junior hockey team and a member of the executive committee for the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. 

Wilbeck heads Greystar's Canadian division

John Wilbeck has been promoted to head of Canadian operations at global investor, developer, builder and property manager Greystar

Wilbeck will oversee the strategic direction and growth of Greystar in the Canadian market. He joined Greystar’s Vancouver office in 2021 as managing director of development.

Prior to that he spent 14 years as a managing director at Hines in Calgary. He started his career as a financial analyst at Citigroup in 2002. 

Sood appointed to Crombie REIT board

Crombie REIT (CRR-UN-T) has appointed Vivek Sood to its board of trustees. 

Sood recently retired from a long career at Sobeys Inc., where his most recent title was executive vice-president, related businesses. His previous positions at Sobeys included VP of finance for the pharmacy group as well as director of treasury and pensions. 

Sood was named CEO of the Year by Atlantic Business Magazine in 2020 and inducted into the magazine’s business hall of fame in 2023. He is the Honourary Lieutenant-Colonel of 1st (Halifax-Dartmouth) Field Artillery, Royal Canadian Artillery Regiment.

Altus names Hurley chief revenue officer

Dan Hurley has joined Altus Group (AIF-T) in the newly created role of chief revenue officer. 

Hurley will oversee global sales and marketing functions at Altus, where he had been working as a strategic advisor since May 2024.

Hurley was previously at SAP, where he held a variety of positions for nearly 14 years, first from 2002 to 2013 and again from 2016 until early 2024. His most recent title at SAP was regional VP of sales, east market unit. 

Hurley’s past commercial real estate roles include regional VP of sales at Anaplan Inc. and senior VP, global head of sales at Hightower Inc. (now known as VTS Inc.). He will continue to be based in New York City in his new job at Altus. 

van der Lee heads AHIP board

American Hotel Income Properties REIT (HOT-UN-T) has appointed Charles “Chuck” van der Lee as chair of its board of directors. 

Van der Lee, a member of the board since 2016, takes over chair duties following the passing of W. Michael Murphy. Van der Lee is the president and CEO of Ananda Holdings Ltd.

As president and CEO of Rogers Retail (a division of Rogers Communications Inc.) from 1990 to 2009, he led the expansion of Rogers stores from 33 locations to more than 400. Prior to Rogers Retail, he oversaw regional operations and real estate management for Mac’s Convenience stores as VP, eastern Canada at Silcorp. 

Also joining the board of AHIP REIT is Jonathan Korol. He has been CEO of the REIT since 2020 and was previously the president of SilverBirch Hotels and Resorts. 

Barry becomes an EVP at Barclay Street

Karen J. Barry has joined Barclay Street Real Estate in Calgary as executive vice-president, investment. 

She was most recently the CEO of her own companies, Beltline Cannabis (which she founded in 2018) and Barry Commercial Real Estate (which she founded in 2007).

During her three-decade career, she’s been chair of the Canadian Commercial Council of REALTORS and a commercial committee member at the Real Estate Council of Alberta. Barry has served at the Canadian Real Estate Association as both a board member and member of the political affairs committee.

She worked for Colliers International Canada and Cushman & Wakefield earlier in her career. 

McPetrie among three AY promotions

Avison Young has announced three promotions in Winnipeg. 

Jamie McPetrie is the new principal and managing director. It’s the culmination of his 24-year career at the firm, which he joined after working at Sun-X Properties. He succeeds Wes Schollenberg, who remains with Avison Young as senior VP. 

Rounding out the firm’s other promotions are Steven Paulus and Paul Douglas, who have been appointed as principals. Douglas joined the company in 2020 while Paulus has been there since 2007.

CBRE adds new faces in Quebec City

CBRE has expanded its team in Quebec City.

Patrick Soucy becomes executive VP following 17 years at Colliers International.

Also joining Soucy at CBRE from Colliers are William Grenon, Maxime Paquet and Maxime St-Pierre, who will take on roles as associate VPs at CBRE. All four move to CBRE as it prepares to open a new Quebec City office at Place de la Cité.

Rasmussen joins Colliers in Toronto

Scott Rasmussen has returned to Toronto to join Colliers Canada as a VP and sales representative. 

Rasmussen will be part of the life science and innovation practice at Colliers.

He was most recently VP of leasing and business development at McMaster Innovation Park in Hamilton, Ont. following previous roles in Toronto at NorthWest Healthcare Properties REIT and Real Facilities Inc. (now Savills Studley).
