Reena Carter appointed chief financial officer at HOOPP

The Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP) has hired Reena Carter as its chief financial officer, recruiting her from another of the province's large provincial pension providers.

Carter was the senior managing director of portfolio management and operations at Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS) in her previous role. In that position, she led operational functions, portfolio construction and the sustainable investing strategy for OMERS Infrastructure.

A CPA with a BBA from the Schulich School of Business, Carter joined OMERS in 2003. She held roles as CFO of Borealis Infrastructure, and served as head of investment finance and valuations and global head of assurance and advisory for OMERS.

“Reena has consistently demonstrated strong leadership and financial acumen, while making meaningful contributions to Canada’s world-class pension industry over the course of her career,” Annesley Wallace, president and CEO of HOOPP, said in the announcement.

“I look forward to working with Annesley and the entire team as we grow and evolve to continue meeting the needs of Ontario’s health care community,” Carter said in the announcement.

HOOPP serves over 478,000 active, deferred and retired members and manages a portfolio worth more than $123 billion.
