True North Square has attracted another downtown Winnipeg business, with technology company Ceridian planning to move into 28,000 square feet in the podium of the major office development.
True North Real Estate Development Limited made the announcement Friday morning. Ceridian will occupy the entire third floor of the podium at 242 Hargrave, the first of four new towers being located in the heart of downtown Winnipeg.
Ceridian provides human resources, payroll, talent management, benefits and workforce management in the cloud.
“Ceridian is a progressive and innovative technology company that we are proud to welcome to True North Square. Its new office space will complement its bright vision for the future of human resources and workforce management services and provides a blank canvas to create a superior experience for employees and customers,” said Jim Ludlow, president of True North Real Estate Development, in a release.
“Leveraging technology, outstanding amenities, and a best-in-class work space will enable Ceridian to propel forward and ultimately enhance the company’s brand in Winnipeg and Canada.”
More than 200 Ceridian employees will work in the LEED Gold class-A space. It will incorporate leading-edge technology, a floor-to-ceiling glass curtainwall, and over 12-foot ceiling heights.
“Ceridian is committed to innovation and growth, which makes our new home in the heart of Winnipeg’s exciting new SHED (Sports, Hospitality and Entertainment) district perfect for our team,” said Scott Kitching, executive vice-president and general counsel of Ceridian, in the release.
“This building was carefully selected to fit the needs of our business. Our new office space offers our people the best technology, location, and amenities, and will foster the positive and collaborative workplace culture we value at Ceridian.”
Ceridian will move from its current home at 125 Garry St., where it has been the anchor tenant of a mid-rise office building.
True North Square million-square-foot project
True North Square is a mixed-use development which will feature more than one million square feet of office, hotel, residential, retail, parking and public plaza space in four towers in Winnipeg’s downtown.
Tenants began moving into the first 17-storey, 365,000-square-foot tower during the summer. Winnipeg based legal firm Thompson Dorfman Sweatman was the first to officially move in, taking three top floors at 242 Hargrave.
At that time, the first tower was reported to be more than 50 per cent leased.
In Friday’s release, True North says “the office spaces at True North Square meet the highest standards of workplace flexibility, tenant health and comfort, and sustainability. Access to skywalk connections, bike paths, and the rapid transit corridor bring convenience and environmentally sound options to employees’ commutes.”
Building amenities include underground parking, bike storage, fitness and conference centres and retail space, located a short walk away from many of the city’s biggest sporting and entertainment events.
