Mantella Corporation, one of the largest Canadian privately held real estate and land development companies, has recruited Craig Hippern to become its president and chief financial officer.
Hippern will be a member of Mantella’s executive leadership team reporting to chairman and chief executive officer, Robert Mantella.
He brings 30 years of finance and operational expertise, primarily in the real estate, venture capital and investment sectors, to his new role. Hippern will play a key role in developing strategic growth opportunities while overseeing every aspect of the company’s management.
“Craig brings with him deep leadership and financial experience, and an impressive track record of achievements and insights into today’s real estate and venture capital markets,” Mantella said in the announcement.
“For these reasons, we are thrilled to have a leader of Craig’s calibre join and take the helm of the company to execute our comprehensive strategic vision.”
Hippern joins Mantella from Toronto-based venture capital firm Grey House Partners GP Inc. (dba Noetic Fund) where he served as CFO and COO.
Prior to joining Noetic Fund, Hippern held several leadership roles, including CFO of a real estate development and sports & entertainment group of companies, and CFO of an alternative investment firm.
He has a CPA, CA, a CPA(IL) and has earned a B.Comm (Co-op) honours degree.
Hutcheson joins QuadReal board
QuadReal Property Group has appointed R. Scott Hutcheson to its board of directors.
Hutcheson brings over 30 years of development and investment experience to QuadReal as well as board engagement across public, private and not-for-profit organizations.
Hutcheson is the chair of Invest Alberta Corporation and serves on several boards including Own the Podium and Rohit Investments.
He has also been a board member of REALPAC, Calgary Economic Development and the Opportunity Calgary Investment Fund.
In addition to his board experience, Hutcheson is the executive chair of Calgary-based Aspen Properties. Prior to co-founding Aspen Properties in 1998, he worked in investment organizations and as an investment banker for Goldman Sachs.
The appointment brings QuadReal's board to eight members.
Marsales promoted at C&W, Scott to depart
Cushman & Wakefield has promoted Allison Marsales to president of advisory, Canada. Additionally, after many years of leadership at Cushman and Wakefield, Chuck Scott (CEO, Canada) will depart the firm at the end of 2023 to pursue other interests.
Marsales will lead strategy for Cushman & Wakefield’s advisory services, which includes more than 500 professionals. She will report to Victoria Malkin, Cushman & Wakefield regional president, central.
Added Malkin, “With more than 20 years of brokerage, landlord and leadership experience, Allison is the ideal person to lead our Canada Advisory business and the first woman to lead brokerage nationally in Canada. She has an extensive understanding of the commercial real estate and broader business-community landscape as well as our own operations and priorities.

Marsales served as Toronto Central managing principal since joining the firm in 2018. She developed and executed the strategic growth plan for Cushman & Wakefield’s Toronto Central business and was responsible for broker advancement and development, talent recruitment, bolstering sales support capabilities and nurturing client relationships.
Marsales attended Dalhousie University and earned CoreNet Global’s master of corporate real estate designation.
Chartwell hires Brown as CFO
Chartwell Retirement Residences (CSH-UN-T) has appointed Jeffrey Brown as chief financial officer.
Brown has served as executive vice-president and chief financial officer of Porter Airlines since 2014. He joined Porter as its chief strategy and procurement officer in 2012 after an eight-year career with EdgeStone Capital Partners, where he was a principal.
Brown has extensive experience in complex business environments with significant capital, management and regulatory requirements, and with many employees and numerous stakeholders.
Caracciolo Ivanhoé's new U.S. V-P, asset management
Michael Caracciolo has joined Ivanhoé Cambridge in the newly created role of vice-president, asset management, United States. He is also head of the company’s New York City office.
Caracciolo will play a leading role in optimizing Ivanhoé Cambridge’s asset management activities in the U.S., including with its operating partners, and will work closely with the investment management team at the company’s headquarters in Montréal.
Before joining Ivanhoé Cambridge, he spent 18 years at Tishman Speyer, most recently as the head of asset management for Studio, the firm’s flexible office platform.
Over his career in real estate, Caracciolo has worked on a broad set of investments across a global portfolio and has held leadership positions in asset management, corporate strategy, and finance.
He earned a BA from the State University of New York at Geneseo and an MBA from Fordham University's Gabelli School of Business.
Newmark names Petrozzi head of Canadian research
Andrew Petrozzi has joined Newmark as director and head of Canada research, responsible for the planning and execution of all Canadian research initiatives.
He will work closely with Newmark’s president and country head for Canada, Norm Taylor, and report to executive managing director of global research David Bitner.
With nearly 13 years of experience in commercial real estate research, Petrozzi brings expertise in actioning data and trends into intelligence. Petrozzi has also been active through speaking engagements and involvement in industry organizations.
Before joining Newmark, Petrozzi was head of commercial transactions, data solutions for Altus Group. Previously, he headed the British Columbia research team at Avison Young.
Bartolini becomes CFO at Tribe
Tribe Property Technologies Inc. (TRBE-X) has named Angelo Bartolini as chief financial officer (CFO). Bartolini will have responsibility for all finance, accounting, financial reporting, audit, tax and capital planning functions.
He assumes the role from Jim Defer, who is pursuing other opportunities.
Bartolini has over 12 years of experience in a public company setting, most recently as the CFO of Altus Group, where he was accountable for quarterly financial reporting and the overall financial management of the company.
He also has extensive experience from senior financial roles with the Canadian division of The Home Depot as well as Canadian Tire Corporation.
Previously, Bartolini was the board chair of GeoVerra, a geomatics firm where he established the board governance structure and implementation of corporate policies.
He holds an honours degree in business administration from Western University and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) of Ontario.
AY adds to Edmonton retail team
Avison Young has bolstered its retail team in Edmonton with the additions of industry veterans Paul Raimundo and Bruce Peters. Raimundo joins as principal and Peters joins as vice-president.
Raimundo is a 20-year veteran with skill sets in negotiating leases, managing property portfolios, and executing real estate transactions.
Peters has 15 years of experience working with clients of varying sizes.
