Multifamily: ‘Ton of product’ for sale in Metro Vancouver

Vancouver’s multiresidential property market is coming back from the COVID pause with a flurry of choice properties available, and an uptick in transactions. Commercial real estate firms report more apartment building and development site listings in September 2020 than in September 2019.

A unique all-female commercial real estate brokerage has been launched in Calgary. Scout Real Estate was created out of vision from Lori Suba, Laurae Spindler, and Eve Renaud, who are all veterans of the industry in Calgary.

Organizations based in major centres are looking to sublet space in small- and medium-sized communities, where increasing numbers of people are moving. Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge is one of the hottest markets poised to take advantage of this trend.

The Ontario Real Estate Association is asking agents to halt plans for open houses, as the province reported a record high of 939 new cases of COVID-19 Friday. Open houses resumed in mid-July as part of the province’s Stage 3 reopening plan.

Alberta continues to have the highest rate of mortgage deferrals in the country. According to numbers shared by the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, many are still using the pandemic support program — which is winding down.
