Stiles named co-COO at Crestpoint; Centurion appoints CIO

Crestpoint Real Estate Investments has appointed Lindsay Stiles as it’s new co-chief operating officer. 

With more than 20 years of experience in the commercial real estate industry, Stiles brings expertise in operations, asset management, finance, leasing and brokerage to her new position.

She has held several increasingly senior roles throughout her career, including COO of Slate Office REIT and managing director at Colliers International. She was also vice-president at Kipling Group and spent more than five years at Triovest, eventually becoming director, asset management.

In her new role, Stiles will report to president and chief executive officer Kevin Leon, and will work alongside current chief operating officer, Colin MacKellar.

Stiles will focus on operations and business systems, compliance, human resources and client service. 

Centurion names Chin as CIO

Centurion Asset Management has chosen Paul Chin as chief investment officer.

Chin brings plenty of experience to the role, joining from Otera Capital, a $30-billion real estate credit subsidiary of Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec (CDPQ). He also served as CIO at Otera, and was responsible for all investment and asset management activities.

Chin has a long track record in real estate investment and financial management. During his tenure at Otera Capital, assets under management grew from about $8 billion to $30 billion, while consistently achieving targeted returns above benchmark. 

As new CIO, he will lead the company’s entry into the U.S. and U.K. and will manage deal flow, investment selection and diligence.

Sullivan appointed to Colliers board

Colliers International Group (CIGI-T) has appointed long-time industry veteran John Sullivan to the board of directors.

Sullivan has more than 30 years of real estate experience in acquisitions, dispositions, asset management and development.

He served as the president and CEO of Cadillac Fairview for 13 years, retiring in 2023.

Previously, Sullivan held senior positions with Marathon Realty and Brookfield Properties. Currently, Sullivan serves on the boards of MAF Properties and the Hospital for Sick Children.

Three appointments made at Windmill

Windmill Development Group recently completed three new leadership appointments. It tapped Jenny McMinn as partner, communications and impact, Scott Pickles as managing director of urban equation, and Graeme Hussey as director, affordable housing.

Windmill is a developer of sustainable communities. The company adheres to the One Planet Living (OPL) framework and it is the first North American company to be endorsed as a One Planet Living Global Leader. 

McMinn will draw from her 15 years of experience working with both government agencies and private developers to deliver high-performance green buildings and new community projects that decrease environmental impact. 

Pickles has more than 20 years of experience in architecture, development, government, sustainability and strategic advisory. 

Hussey has 15 years’ experience working as a development manager for a range of affordable housing projects. He most recently served as president of Cahdco, an Ottawa-based non-profit developer of affordable housing. 

Frontenac MIC makes several job appointments

Frontenac Mortgage Investment Corporation (FMIC) has returned founder Wayne Robinson to the role of CEO, and has made a number of other management and board changes.

Robinson founded the Robinson Group in 1980, and previously served as CEO of FMIC from its founding until 2014.

FMIC also announced that Ryan Seeds has resigned as chair of the board of directors and Andrew Blanchard will fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Seeds. Blanchard previously served on the board from 2015 to 2020. He is currently CEO of Sterling Capital Brokers, and brings more than 18 years of leadership experience.

Remaining board members Eric Dinelle, Meghan Davis and Ryan Wykes will continue to serve. Frontenac said Davis, a board member since 2021, has been appointed interim chair.

Avison Young makes personnel moves; grows in Atlantic Canada

Brett Armstrong has been promoted to managing director in Vancouver for Avison Young, with a focus on business development and increasing market share throughout the city and province.

Armstrong joined Avison Young in 2012 and has focused his career on developing long-term corporate relationships with owners and occupiers across North America. He most recently served as principal and senior vice-president, leasing in Vancouver and before that, was based in Toronto, where he was the acting practice leader for the Toronto leasing team. 

The CRE firm also announced the addition of an affiliate office in St. John’s, expanding an existing affiliation agreement with Halifax managing director Michael Brown. He oversees the Atlantic territory of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and now Newfoundland and Labrador.

Joining Brown will be Brandon Copeland, who will lead the St. John’s office.

A graduate of Memorial University of Newfoundland, Copeland brings over 10 years of experience. He started his career in real estate development, managing a $40-million land development portfolio, and has also worked in investment and consulting, providing counsel on project viability to developers, the public sector and community groups in the realms of urban planning and ecosystem hubs. 

Most recently, Copeland worked for one of St. John’s largest property management companies, managing the city’s largest class-A office building and closing over $50 million of retail lease and office sales transactions between 2020 and 2024.
