Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) of Canada’s annual BOMEX conference and convention had to be held virtually for the first time this year due to COVID-19 precautions.
That meant BOMA’s awards couldn’t be handed out in person, either. There were still buildings and people deserving of being honoured, however, so this year’s Oct. 29 awards gala also became a virtual event with the normal slate of winners.
The Chair’s Award is presented to individuals who make valuable and long-lasting contributions to BOMA and support the organization in a meaningful way. Don Fairgrieve-Park, executive vice-president of operational excellence for QuadReal Property Group, received this year’s honour.
The BOMA Canada Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Challenge Award recognizes the highest-scoring BOMA member building to be rated for accessibility using the Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Certification program. Calgary’s East Calgary Health Centre, managed by BentallGreenOak and owned by Beacon Hills Apartment Ltd., received this year’s highest score.
