The Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada) held its annual national awards gala on Sept. 24 to cap off its BOMEX 2026 conference at Rogers Centre Ottawa, announcing award winners in a variety of categories. 

The Outstanding Building of the Year (TOBY) Awards recognize quality in commercial real estate buildings and excellence in building management. 

Judging is based on: building standards; community impact; tenant relations; energy conservation; environmental, regulatory and sustainability practices; emergency preparedness and security standards; and the training of building personnel.

All entrants must be BOMA BEST-certified and hold a BOMA 360 designation.

TOBY Award winners

BOMA Canada’s Pinnacle Awards recognize organizations and industry service providers that represent a standard of excellence to which all BOMA members and their employees should aspire. The Pinnacle Awards recognize innovation, teamwork, outstanding service and commitment to clients.

The BOMA BEST Spotlight Award celebrates a team’s commitment and the building’s sustainability journey. This year’s winner was 1835 Yonge Street, located in Toronto and managed by Northridge Inc.

The Rick Hansen Foundation Accessibility Award went to MacIsaac Health Building, located at 5955 University Blvd. in Vancouver and managed by UBC Properties Trust.

The BOMA Canada Chair’s Award is presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to the commercial real estate industry in Canada. This year’s recipient was Fred Edwards of GDI Ainsworth in Calgary.

Ryan Giesbrecht of GWL Realty Advisors in Vancouver won the Randal Froebelius Award as the BOMA Canada member of the year.

Charlotte Grandy of BGO in Mississauga received the Emerging Leader Award.

Yousef Almuzaini of CBRE Limited in Toronto won the Elaina Tattersdale Award as a sustainability champion.

Victoria Landreville of PMco in Dartmouth, N.S. received the BOMI Vyetta Sunderland Scholarship.
