Manulife Investment Management has promoted its former CFO, Kristie Feinberg, to head of U.S. and Europe for Manulife IM, and president and CEO of its U.S. affiliate John Hancock Investment Management.
Feinberg had held the dual roles of CFO and global head of strategy for Manulife IM.
She succeeds Andrew G. Arnott, who was appointed to a new role as global head of retail at Manulife IM while maintaining his former responsibilities during Feinberg's transition into her new role.
Arnott had been appointed head of U.S. and Europe for Manulife IM in 2018 and was president and CEO of John Hancock since 2012. During this time, he oversaw an over-300 per cent increase in assets under management.
Feinberg joined Manulife Investment Management in 2021 from Invesco, where she served as both CFO and global head of treasury.
Before that, she was corporate treasurer and business controller at Oppenheimer Funds.
Feinberg graduated from St. Cloud State University with a bachelor's degree in economics and from Columbia Business School with an MBA in finance. She holds the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Feinberg is a member of Manulife IM's leadership team and is based in Boston.
Sherren to retire from True North, Starlight
True North Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust (TNT-UN-T) has announced Tracy Sherren, its president and CFO and the president of Canadian commercial at Starlight Investments, will be retiring effective June 20.
Sherren will, however, remain as a trustee of the REIT.
Martin Liddell, the current chief financial officer at Starlight Investments, has been appointed as CFO of the REIT in addition to his positions at Starlight Investments.
Chris Bell will continue to act as the president and chief investment officer at Starlight Investments as well as serving as the interim president of the Canadian commercial division.
"We are grateful for Tracy's significant contributions to True North Commercial Real Estate Investment Trust since its inception and to Starlight Investments," Daniel Drimmer, CEO of the REIT and Starlight Investments, said in the announcement.
"We wish her well in her retirement and look forward to benefiting from her continued sound advice and counsel as a trustee of the REIT.”
Terrone becomes president at Werkliv
Montreal-headquartered Werkliv has appointed Maggie Terrone as its new president, replacing Daniel Goodfellow, who, as the company’s founder, will remain involved as senior advisor.
The change in leadership comes after a reorganization of Werkliv’s structure to allow for the company’s rapid growth. Goodfellow will also lead the company’s prefabrication branch, AVAC Béton, located in Granby, Que.
Terrone, the firm’s former executive vice-president, joined Werkliv in 2016 and managed two large repositioning projects in her first year while simultaneously launching the company’s furniture import and logistics businesses.
When Werkliv expanded into Atlantic Canada, she relocated to Halifax as vice-president to manage acquisitions, development and execution of Werkliv projects, valued at $215 million.
She has now returned to Montreal to lead the corporate head office, operations and the Werkliv team.
Goodfellow will lead innovation and development at AVAC Béton, which Werkliv acquired in 2020.
Severino named BGO’s chief economist, head of research in U.S.
BentallGreenOak (BGO) has named Ryan Severino to the newly created role of chief economist and head of research for the firm’s U.S. business.
He will focus on global and regional economic research, analysis and commentary, as well as supporting BGO’s investment and portfolio management teams through property market forecasting.
Severino brings 25 years of economics, real estate and investment research and analysis to his role. He joins BGO from JLL where he served as chief economist and managed the economics team.
He also served as senior economist and director of research at REIS in the research and economics department.
Earlier he was the associate director of research at MetLife Real Estate, and director of investment strategy and market research at Starwood Capital Group.
Severino is a member of the CFA Institute, the American Economic Association, the National Association for Business Economics, Urban Land Institute and National Council of Real Estate Investment Fiduciaries.
He holds a master’s degree from Columbia University and a bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University. He is also a CFA Institute charterholder.
Keilty joins Trez Capital board
Karen Keilty has been appointed to the Trez Capital board of governors.
Keilty joins the board as a recognized financial expert and corporate director with over 30 years of experience in audit and advisory services.
Prior to her retirement from Deloitte, she was the leader and director of operations for Deloitte's audit practice in British Columbia.
Keilty was lead audit partner for many leading Canadian and global private and public companies in a variety of industries including technology and telecom, construction, real estate development and consumer business.
She is on the board of Providence Health Care, a commissioner for the British Columbia Securities Commission, a member of the Audit Advisory Committee for the Public Guardian and a Trustee of B.C.

Chartwell CFO leaves company
Chartwell Retirement Residences (CSH-UN-T) reports that Sheri Harris, its chief financial officer, has decided to pursue other leadership opportunities.
Jonathan Boulakia, chief investment and legal officer, has been appointed to the role on an interim basis.
Harris is staying on with Chartwell for a transition period to assist Boulakia in transitioning to the role.
Chartwell has commenced an executive search for Harris' successor.
TAS hires Clark as chief development officer
TAS has brought in Hugh Clark as its chief development officer.
Prior to joining TAS, Clark was the executive vice-president of development at Allied Properties REIT, where he oversaw the construction of several notable buildings across Toronto.
Previous to his role at Allied, Hugh spent many years working for an award-winning architectural firm in Toronto and has worked as a licensed architect in both Ontario and Massachusetts.
He is a graduate of the University of Toronto and Harvard University.
Kotlikov takes CFO’s position at Forge & Foster
Ev Kotlikov has been promoted to chief financial officer at Hamilton-based Forge & Foster. Kotlikov has been with Forge & Foster for the past six years.
As CFO, Kotlikov will be responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the business, including financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting.
Lang steps up to become ApartmentLove CTO
ApartmentLove Inc. (APLV-CN) has promoted Kenneth Lang to the role of chief technology officer.
Lang joined the company in December 2020 as the head of technology and will now step into the newly created CTO’s position within the growing company.

Colliers names two senior V-Ps in Ottawa
Two new senior vice-presidents, Oliver Kershaw and Lindsay Hockey, have been hired for Colliers’ Ottawa’s brokerage team.
Both are joining Colliers from Avison Young, and prior to that they were with CBRE. The pair have worked together for over a decade.
Hockey and Kershaw have a combined 38 years of experience in landlord and tenant representation and office leasing in Ottawa's commercial real estate market.
Hockey is an alumnus of the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University with a bachelor of commerce and is a member of both OREA and RECO.
Kershaw is an alumnus of the University of Manchester Institute of Science & Technology (U.K.) with a bachelor of science in construction management and is a member of both OREA and RECO.
