Ishak new CIO at Teranet; Lefebvre promoted at BTB; Samuels named COO at Tribe and more

Statutory registry services and property intelligence company Teranet, has chosen Sam Ishak as its chief information officer.

Ishak will lead Teranet’s enterprise technology strategy, overseeing enterprise architecture, application development, information security, infrastructure, business intelligence and technical services.

“The property industry is entering a new era where trusted data, secure digital infrastructure and intelligent technologies will increasingly shape how people, businesses and governments interact,” Elgin Farewell, president and chief executive officer of Teranet said.

“Sam brings the right vision to leverage technology, AI, data and our talented people, to accelerate innovation while keeping our customers at the centre of everything we do.”

Farewell will be leaving Teranet when a successor is chosen, it was previously announced.

Ishak spent more than 20 years at title insurance firm FCT, eventually becoming CIO. Previously, Ishak worked at syncbase (which he co-founded), Insurance Bureau of Canada, 01 Communique and Intelligent Digital Machines (IDM).

"My focus will be on creating experiences that are simpler, more connected and more valuable while working alongside our talented teams to help shape the future of our business through innovation, data and technology,” Ishak said.

Ishak holds a bachelor of computer science degree and is a licensed professional engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario. He is also a distinguished certified IT chief architect through The Open Group and was recognized with the 2025 Futurist Toronto CTO Award from CXO Inc.

BTB taps Lefebvre as executive VP, CFO, COO 

BTB REIT (BTB-UN-T) has promoted Marc-André Lefebvre to executive vice-president, chief financial officer and chief operating officer.

Lefebvre has been vice-president and chief financial officer of BTB since 2024.

“He has demonstrated the leadership, judgment and discipline required to make a meaningful contribution to the management of the organization. The expansion of his responsibilities reflects our confidence in his abilities and in his capacity to support the execution of BTB’s strategy and its long-term growth,” Luc Martin, chair of the board of trustees, said in a release.

Previously, Lefebvre worked with Kruger Energy, as CFO, and he spent more than 18 years with Scotiabank Global Banking and Markets, eventually becoming a director.

BTB is a real estate investment trust with an investment strategy focused on acquiring industrial properties in the Canadian major markets. BTB owns and self-manages a portfolio of 72 properties, representing a total leasable area of approximately 5.9-million square feet.

Tribe appoints Samuels as COO

Jerome Samuels has been appointed chief operating officer of Tribe Property Technologies (TRBE-X).

Samuels joined Tribe at the beginning of 2026 as executive vice-president, operations, bringing more than 15 years of senior leadership experience.

He will oversee the company’s operational strategy across its national platform. Samuels will also continue to lead Tribe’s AI-enabled integration and standardization efforts, consolidating systems, processes and data into its AI-based property management platform, One Tribe OS.

“Since joining the company earlier this year, Jerome has demonstrated strong leadership across our operations and has brought a disciplined, people-centric approach to execution and organizational transformation. His experience will be instrumental as we strengthen operational consistency, align our teams and technology, and execute on our strategic priorities,” Joseph Nakhla, chief executive officer of Tribe said.

Samuels has many years of senior leadership experience, including almost 14 years at Rogers Communications in revenue operations and transformation, where he led large-scale integration and automation initiatives.

Previously he worked at PwC and Scotiabank. Samuels earned an MBA, entrepreneurial studies, marketing and strategy at York University’s Schulich School of Business.

Firm Capital brings on Cruz to lead residential lending

Laura Cruz has been hired by Firm Capital (FC-T) as co-head, residential lending for the mortgage team, the company announced on LinkedIn.

Cruz has more than a decade of experience in residential lending, mortgage underwriting and business development, previously working at CMI Canadian Mortgages, Haventree Bank, Get a Better Mortgage Inc., Community Trust, and others, since 2015.

In her new role, she will focus on expanding Firm Capital’s residential lending platform, strengthening partnerships with mortgage brokers, and driving growth across the broker network.

Foster new Toronto VP at CBRE

Nicholas Foster has been appointed vice-president, senior sales director in CBRE’s (CBRE-N) Toronto downtown office.

He brings more than 23 years of experience to the role, having worked his way up in the company, after starting as a sales associate in 2003.

In his newly expanded role, Foster will help brokers and clients leverage data and insights, to uncover new opportunities and improve outcomes across all commercial asset classes.

Margaux appoints Salek as trustee

Margaux REIT (ALFA-UN-X) will bring on Faycal Salek as a trustee of the REIT, and a member of the audit committee.

“(Salek’s) experience and expertise will be a valuable asset to the REIT as we continue to pursue our growth and expansion strategy,” said Michel Lassonde, chairman of the board of trustees and chief executive officer of Margaux.

Salek has more than 20 years of experience in management and financial leadership.

Margaux REIT is a Quebec-based real estate investment trust specializing in the acquisition and operation of self-storage properties throughout the province.
