Leyad has appointed two new senior leaders as the company continues to expand its national platform.
Joining the company are Juan Calixto Tria as senior vice-president, financial reporting and compliance, and Alex Ratté as vice-president, construction.
“Juan and Alex each bring deep expertise in their respective fields and further strengthen our ability to execute at the highest level for our tenants,” Henry Zavriyev, chief executive officer of Leyad said.
Calixto Tria joined Leyad earlier this year, and he will oversee financial reporting, corporate compliance, accounting policies, treasury reporting and governance.
Previously he was at Agellan, where he served as vice-president, finance. Prior to Agellan, Tria held senior roles with MNP, PwC, Ernst & Young as well as with Rawlinson & Hunter.
Ratté will lead Leyad’s construction and capital projects platform. He has more than two decades of experience managing commercial real estate developments and capital programs.
Most recently, Ratté served as senior director, project management at Cominar, during the REIT’s transition from public to private ownership and he managed capital programs of up to $100 million.
Ratté spent more than 16 years with First Capital REIT, managing major redevelopment projects across Quebec, B.C. and Ontario.
Teranet CEO retiring
Elgin Farewell, president and chief executive officer of Teranet, will retire after almost three decades with the company, including more than 13 years in the top role.
Farewell will serve in his current role while the board completes the succession process.
“Elgin’s leadership has been instrumental in building Teranet into the strong, resilient organization it is today. The board is deeply grateful for his dedication, judgment and lasting contribution, and we are committed to managing this planned succession process thoughtfully to support continuity for employees, customers, partners and stakeholders,” Andrea Bolger, board of directors’ chair said.
Farewell first joined Teranet in 1997 and held a number of leadership roles with the company. He became president and chief executive officer in 2013.
Over his tenure, he helped Teranet modernize land registration and strengthened long-term registry partnerships. Today, Teranet is the only concessionaire supporting land registry operations in Ontario and Manitoba.
Founded in 1991, Teranet operates the Electronic Registration System for Ontario, and the Land Titles and Personal Property registries end-to-end for Manitoba.
Altus announces CFO transition
Katie Royce has joined Altus Group as chief financial officer.
Former chief financial officer Pawan Chhabra will remain with the company into September to support the transition. Chhabra, who joined in Jan. 2023, has helped transform Altus into a pure-play technology firm.
“(Royce) is a proven operator at the intersection of finance, technology and strategy, who has built and led modern finance organizations that fuel innovation, growth and performance,” Mike Gordon, chief executive officer and chair of Altus said.
Royce will be based in New York, and will lead the company’s global finance organization.
Most recently, Royce served as chief financial officer of ZenBusiness. Previously, she held senior finance roles at Cognizant. Her experience also includes working in various investor relations and treasury roles, as well as a buy-side research analyst.
Owen leaving Pure Industrial
David Owen, president and chief operating officer with Pure Industrial, announced on LinkedIn that he is leaving the firm.
“After 10 incredible years at Pure Industrial, I have decided the time is right for me to step away and commence on my next chapter,” he said.
He joined the team in 2016 as an asset manager and his “tight-knit team” spanned four offices with 30 people managing 14 million square feet in Canada.
“Today, Pure Industrial is a team of over 300 across six offices, overseeing 43 million square feet as the largest Canadian pure-play industrial platform,” Owen said on LinkedIn.
Before joining Pure, he worked with Strathallen Capital, Canadian Mortgage Capital Corporation and Brockport Home Systems.
Prologis taps Hasen as VP for Toronto
Prologis announced it has hired Adam Hasen as vice-president, market officer for the Toronto market.
Hasen will oversees Prologis’ 14 million-square-foot regional operating portfolio, that includes 42 logistics facilities across the GTHA.
“Toronto remains one of North America’s most important logistics markets, and I look forward to working alongside our talented team to create value for our customers, advance strategic growth opportunities and meaningfully contribute to the local economies in this region,” Hasen said.
Prior to Prologis, Hasen served as vice president, leasing at GWL Realty Advisors, where he oversaw all leasing activities for an 11 million-square-foot portfolio of industrial and retail properties across the GTA comprising more than 500 tenants.
Over almost 19 years with GWL, he held increasingly senior roles in asset management, office leasing and portfolio operations.
Woodcock new director with Partner
Ben Woodcock will join Partner Assessment Corporation as director of building sciences.
Based in Vancouver, Woodcock will lead the expansion of the firm’s Building Condition Assessment (BCA) services across Western Canada.
Previously, he worked for more than five years as principal project manager with WSP in Canada. Woodcock has more than 20 years of experience and he specializes in building consulting, Property Condition Assessments (PCAs), construction monitoring, environmental assessments and commercial real estate advisory services.
He has experience across various properties in Canada, U.S., U.K. and Europe.
Fiera names Smart lead Canadian portfolio manager
Fiera Capital has appointed Nicholas Smart as lead portfolio manager, Canadian large cap equities.
Smart has been with Fiera Capital since 2016 and previously served as co-lead of the firm’s Canadian large cap strategies. Overall, he has over 15 years of investment industry experience, including more than five years with Empire Life Investments.
