Parkland Corporation (PKI-T) has a new president, North America, after promoting Marcel Teunissen, the company’s former chief financial officer.
He has been with the retail and fuels distribution firm for five years as CFO, overseeing Parkland’s Canadian and U.S. retail and commercial businesses.
Teunissen had previously served as executive vice-president, finance, integrated gas and new energies for Royal Dutch Shell, responsible for the financial management of its global portfolio of LNG assets and its emerging new energy business. He has an extensive background in corporate finance, treasury, financial planning and analysis, tax, strategic planning and commodity and financial risk management.
Teunissen holds a masters of business economics from the Erasmus University Rotterdam.
To succeed Teunissen, the firm named Brad Monaco as interim chief financial officer.
Monaco has held progressively senior finance roles at Parkland including director, capital markets, and vice-president finance for the company's Canadian segment. Prior to Parkland, Monaco built a range of experience in various capital markets, strategic planning, and buy-side investment management roles.
Parkland has retained an executive recruitment firm to conduct a search for a permanent chief financial officer.
New CEO at Carson Dunlop
Home inspection and property assessment company Carson Dunlop has appointed Karen Yolevski as chief executive officer.
Yolevski joins Carson Dunlop after serving as chief operating officer, corporate brokerages at Royal LePage, where she led the company’s corporately owned real estate brokerages. Her executive experience spans industries including real estate, financial services and law.
Company co-founder and president Alan Carson will remain actively involved, focusing on advancing the firm’s education programs.
New board member for Chartwell
Chartwell Retirement Residences (CSH-UN-T) recently named Alka Gautam to its board of directors.
Gautam brings expertise in leadership, operations, finance and risk management, having spent more than 20 years with Reinsurance Group of America (RGA), most recently as the executive vice-president global operations, RGA and president and chief executive officer of RGA Canada.
Gautam retired from RGA in 2023 and currently serves on the board of directors of iA Financial Corporation. She holds CPA and Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D) designations.
Gautam will serve on the audit and investment committees.
Two moves at StorageVault
StorageVault (SVI-T) has appointed Deborah Robinson as a director after Jay Lynne Fleming decided to step down from the board.
Robinson brings more than 25 years of experience in corporate governance, executive compensation, performance measurement and strategic consulting to senior executives of both public and private companies and not-for-profit organizations.
Robinson will serve as chair of the governance, nominating and compensation committee.
Robinson is founder and president of Bay Street HR, an outsourcing human resources service provider to professional service firms.
Prior to founding Bay Street HR, Robinson was executive director at CIBC World Markets, where she oversaw human resources for Global Investment Banking. She also held senior positions at Fidelity Investments and American Express in Boston and New York.
Robinson holds the ICD.D designation.
More changes at Frontenac
Wayne Robinson has resigned as chief executive officer of the Frontenac Mortgage Investment Corporation (FMIC).
Robinson founded the Robinson Group in 1980, and previously served as chief executive officer of FMIC from its founding until 2014. He was renamed chief executive officer of the company late last year after it went through a number of senior management changes.
FMIC has begun a search to identify a replacement.
Colliers adds to Toronto, Quebec City brokerage teams
Colliers (CIGI-T) announced changes to its Toronto brokerage leadership team and made a new hire in Quebec City.
Robert Frost is now senior managing director, Toronto west office while Jonathan Olynick will become managing director, Toronto downtown.
Peter Garrigan, executive managing director, GTA and Bobby MacDonald managing director, southwestern Ontario will remain in their roles. The position of managing director, Toronto North will be announced later this year.
Frost began his commercial real estate career at Colliers in 2005 as a sales representative before advancing his career in progressive leadership roles at GWL Realty Advisors and Prologis. He returned to the firm in 2021 as senior managing director and leads the national multifamily practice group across the country.
Olynick joined Colliers earlier this year as vice-president, sales representative. For more than 20 years, he has held senior leadership roles in investments, asset management and leasing.
In other news, the company said Jonathan Moisan has joined as vice-president, commercial real estate broker in Quebec City.
Moisan has expertise across all commercial real estate sectors. He brings with him previous experience from Cardinal Agence Immobilière and Bender & Associés.
JLL welcomes 6 to industrial CRE team
Jones Lang LaSalle Real Estate Services (JLL-N) has added six executives to its industrial commercial real estate team: Luis Almeida (executive vice-president), Daniel Smith (senior vice-president), Kevin Irandoust (associate vice-president), Rodrigo Silva (associate vice-president), Jakub Vidimlic (senior associate), and Kausi Vickneshwaran (transaction manager).
Both Almeida and Smith joined JLL last year. Almeida had worked with Lee & Associates Commercial Real Estate Services for five years and spent another eight years with Cushman & Wakefield, while Smith spent almost five years at Cushman & Wakefield.
Almeida and Smith are both members of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors (SIOR).
Czan named president of the Ottawa Real Estate Board
Broker Paul Czan is the new president of the Ottawa Real Estate Board (OREB).
Czan has been the team lead with the Paul Czan Real Estate Group Keller Williams since 2022. He also worked with Royal LePage Performance Realty Ottawa Real Estate.
He has earned the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS) designation with the National Association of REALTORS, and was licensed by the Real Estate Council of Ontario in 2018.
