In a multi-part interview, Knightsbridge Development Corp. chief executive officer Will Smith joins host Howard Drukarsh for a walk around Toronto's massive new downtown The Well complex, and offers some perspective on the city's commercial real estate market.
Knightsbridge is part of a joint venture of several major developers (including RioCan REIT) at the huge new downtown Toronto complex, and Smith shows off a portion of the project in a brief walkabout.
The Well borders Front, Spadina and Wellington streets, and comprises 1.1 million square feet of office, 500,000 square feet of retail and food services, and 1,700 residential units spread throughout multiple buildings, all connected to a three-level retail base.
In the second portion of their discussion, Smith and Drukarsh talk about the new construction market in Toronto amid the ongoing challenging conditions many companies are facing.
Smith also shares his views on commercial real estate investment interest in Canada relative to other parts of the world.
