Devimco to kick off Montreal’s huge Solar Uniquartier
Construction is expected to start in August on Devimco’s $1.5 billion mixed-use Solar Uniquartier development on Montreal’s South Shore. The massive project in Brossard will include 2,500 residential units, 500,000 square feet of office space, 500,000 square feet of commercial space, two boutique hotels, sports complex, convention centre and a park of more than 130,000 square feet.
IKEA to open Richmond distribution centre
Swedish furniture retail giant IKEA is creating a new distribution centre in Richmond B.C. IKEA said the 330,540-square-foot facility will be its third in Canada, with others in the Toronto and Montreal areas. IKEA plans to double its presence in Canada over the next eight years.
Television City to be Hamilton’s largest development
Lamb Development Corp. and Movengo Developments have unveiled the details of Television City, which they say will be the largest development to date in Hamilton. The $360 million mixed-use project will house approximately 618 units and occupy 44,000 sq. ft. of land. Located at 163 Jackson St. West, it will consist of two connected high-rise towers, one 40-storey and one 30-storey.
Bentall, KingSett leasing luxury TO apartment complex
Leasing has begun and occupancy is expected late this fall at Bentall Kennedy and KingSett Capital’s Two St. Thomas luxury apartment building in Toronto. The 26-storey, $130-million complex being built by PCL Construction is located at St. Thomas and Charles streets in the Bloor-Yorkville area, near high-end shopping and restaurants as well as two subway lines.
Menkes adds retail anchors at Toronto’s One York Street
WINNERS, Coppa’s Fresh Market and Harbour Eats by Mercatino will be anchor tenants in a new retail podium at Menkes Developments’ One York Street in Toronto’s burgeoning South Core. Menkes made the announcement this week, noting that 85,000 square feet of the 151,500 square foot podium is now leased.

Six Months Ago: Greybrook has full slate of projects for 2017
Greybrook Realty Partners Inc. has plans for a very active 2017, and it didn’t waste any time with its announcement of a $10.9-million investment in a low-rise residential development with Marlin Spring in Oshawa, Ont. “We’re looking forward to between 10 and 15 acquisitions this year,” said Greybrook Realty Partners CEO and Greybrook Capital partner Peter Politis.
One Year Ago: Adi’s Burlington project draws young buyers
Adi Development Group has launched a handful of condominiums in Burlington, Ont. over the past few years and its latest, StationWest, seems to be especially appealing to young people. “It’s a function of affordability and debunking the myth that millennials don’t want to own homes, and that we live in this rent as needed world today,” said Adi chief executive officer Tariq Adi.
