Former PIRET CEO Kevan Gorrie to take over at Granite
With his work at PIRET complete, Kevan Gorrie is moving on to a new challenge as chief executive officer of Granite REIT. Gorrie, who guided Pure Industrial Real Estate Trust as it grew into one of the most aggressive and rapidly growing entities in the sector, will take over on August 1. He will replace retiring Granite CEO Michael Forsayeth.
Cadillac Fairview buys 100 per cent of Ritz-Carlton Toronto
Updated with comment from CF: Cadillac Fairview has acquired full ownership of The Ritz-Carlton, Toronto hotel from Simcoe Wellington Hotel Ltd. Partnership, its former partner in the flagship downtown property. Cadillac Fairview told RENX it purchased the remaining 60 per cent which is did not already own, via this transaction.
Time Out Market coming to Canada, at Eaton Centre Montreal
Add Montreal to the list of major North American Cities which will soon host a Time Out Market. However, unlike the original foodie haunt in Lisbon, Portugal, this Time Out will be housed in a downtown shopping centre, Ivanhoé Cambridge’s Eaton Centre Montreal.
Major facelift for Burlington Mall’s 50th anniversary
Burlington Mall has reached the half-century mark and is undergoing renovations to set it up for another 50 years. “Burlington Mall is a road map for the way community malls can evolve and thrive both in the current climate and in the long term,” said general manager Heidi McGaw.
