Kim Saunders first Canadian BOMA Fellow

Ottawa’s Emerald Plaza has a new owner
Ottawa’s mixed-use Emerald Plaza has changed hands for $26.1 million through the assistance of Primecorp Commercial Realty Inc. “The seller is moving towards residential rather than commercial and the buyer is a private company that owns quite a bit of real estate in the city,” said Aaida Oakley, who brokered the transaction between the two private companies with the assistance of Johanna Oakley.

For the past few months, Morguard Corp. (MRC-T) has been on something of a buying spree, scooping up shares of embattled Temple Hotels Inc. In its latest announcement, the Mississauga, Ont.-based real estate giant said it acquired 18.3 million common shares for $20 million, raising its stake in the company, to a total of 24.4% of Temple’s issued and outstanding common shares.
One year ago: Renewed growth for Nobel REIT
Nobel REIT’s (NEL.UN-X) initial growth didn’t occur as planned but, after acquiring six properties in 2014 and announcing two more so far this year, things are back on track for the Quebec-based real estate investment trust. “Our goal this year is to bring the portfolio close to $200 million in value,” said president and chief executive officer Jean Teasdale.
