Richard Crenian has a retail strategy he believes in so the chief executive officer of ReDev Properties is in the mood to buy. Shopping malls. Several malls, if he can acquire them. “We’ve got a 10-year game plan, and our game plan is specifically this; we want to do more development, mainly in the retail sector,” Crenian told RENX during an interview. “I’m just looking for good deals right now.”

BizBrookfield Property makes $14B bid for mall owner GGP

Brookfield Property Partners L.P. (BPY.UN) announced Monday morning it is bidding to purchase all remaining shares of Chicago-based shopping mall owner GGP for an estimated (US)$14 billion. Brookfield currently owns about 34 per cent of the company, which operates as a publicly-traded trust. The acquisition, if completed, will take GGP private.

BizDream Industrial buys 4 sites, expands U.S. portfolio

Dream Industrial REIT is moving forward with its expansion into the United States, buying a four-property portfolio of industrial properties in three hub cities for US$103.3 million. The properties are located in Memphis, Tenn. (two properties), Orlando, Fla.; and Charlotte, N.C. The acquisitions comprise just over 2.0 million square feet of gross leasable area and are 100 per cent occupied.

Manhattan’s StuyTown to host massive solar energy project

Blackstone and Ivanhoé Cambridge are about to turn the largest rental apartment community in the United States into a major producer of green energy in Manhattan. The two real estate giants announced Wednesday they will build the largest private multi-family residential rooftop solar project in the U.S. at Stuyvesant Town and Peter Cooper Village. The project will be run by StuyTown Property Services (SPS).
